At the time of creation of our web site (July 2002), the Calgary (Alberta) Neuropathy Association (formerly, Calgary (Alberta) Neuropathy Support Group) was the third support group in Canada.

The Calgary (Alberta) Neuropathy Association is a non-profit, charitable organization founded to help all sufferers of peripheral neuropathy and neuropathic pain.

The Mission of the Calgary (Alberta) Neuropathy Association is to ensure through Information, Empowerment, and Peer Support, that all who suffer from any form of peripheral neuropathy and neuropathic pain, have hope and that no one will face their neuropathy alone.

The objectives of the Calgary (Alberta) Neuropathy Association are to:

  • Facilitate peer support and education for individuals who suffer with neuropathic pain and their families so that those individuals may live more fully in spite of their pain

  • Provide care and support through education

  • Raise awareness about issues of living with neuropathic pain among the health care community, and the public at large

  • Raise awareness and educate those who have the ability to impact the treatment (by society and medical management) of people who suffer from peripheral neuropathy and neuropathic pain

  • Share information with those who suffer from peripheral neuropathy and neuropathic pain.

  • Advise those who suffer from peripheral neuropathy and neuropathic pain of the resources that are available within the community

  • Help those who suffer from peripheral neuropathy and neuropathic pain access the most appropriate treatment and provide them with support to improve their lives

  • Enhance physician awareness.

  • Participate in national and international awareness and information exchange

  • Welcome any person who has neuropathic problems and concerns to the group's monthly meetings.
